Jen and Phil’s elegant and fun Humanist wedding was held at The Sun Pavilion, Harrogate. Jen and Phil first met on a night out in London. Jen’s friend Megan had spotted two men and decided to ask if they were single. Jen said not to bother as they looked like a couple! But Megan returned with good news: they were both straight, and both single!

Jen and Phil spent the night deep in conversation, and they’ve never really stopped talking since. Phil proposed using an advent calendar which he had stuffed with Love Heart sweets bearing the words, ‘Will you marry me?’ They chose to hold their wedding in Jen’s hometown, Harrogate, at the beautiful Art Deco Sun Pavilion.

Their wedding ceremony reflected their sense of fun, with their humanist celebrant Ceremonies with Rachael telling their love story, resulting in laughter and some tears among the wedding guests.

A group singalong to ‘Can’t Take My Eyes of You’, accompanied by Inferno Strings, got all the guests involved and set the mood for the rest of the wedding day. Phil’s Greek heritage was reflected in their decision to include a stefana (crown) ceremony, using the crowns worn by his parents on their wedding day.

Afterwards Jen and Phil said, “We were absolutely over the moon having Rachael as our wedding celebrant! The process was so easy from start to finish, and Rachael put us at ease throughout. Rachael is the calming presence you need on your wedding day and is full of wit and charm, which comes across in her speech writing. She has a unique skill of reading people, and our friends couldn't believe she wasn't a lifelong family friend! All of our guests were raving about Rachael and how fun and personal the ceremony had been. The ceremony was the highlight of our day, and we'd choose Rachael again in a heartbeat.”

The wedding ceremony took place on a covered terrace against a backdrop of romantic blush pink roses and soft drapes styled by Shindig Event Styling. Photographer Claire McClean captured the natural joy as each moment unfolded, as well as some elegant portraits in the beautiful Valley Gardens.
